Every day in South Korea, there are thousands if not hundreds of Korean individuals and groups lists and auditioned to be and belong themselves as idols in the K Pop world. Dressed in striking and catchy fashion, K Pop idols belt it out as they sing and dance in a choreographed upbeat entertainment acts the K Pop way! But the long list seemed not in any way will about to stop as the K-Pop fever spreads not only across Korea but elsewhere in the world. How did the K Pop mania spread this big?
Seo Taiji and Boys
K Pop was coined from the term Korean Popular Music that became a popular music genre. It was in 1992 when he was about 17 that Seo Taiji with his found love of rock music that he formed the group Seo Taiji and Boys along with Yang Hyun-suk and Lee Juno. The group experimented their music repertoire out of the different popular Western music they were hearing during the era. In April of 1992 they joined MBC’s talent search singing the song "Nan Arayo" but judges not ready for their kind of music have garnered them a flopping score from the jury. It was MTV Iggy who has noticed the group’s own fusion of American hip-hop rapping talent that they tagged the group’s music as "K-pop music would never be the same." The K Pop genre was born as the fusion of east and western music from South Korea. Seo Taiji’s solo and his group’s albums skyrocketed the charts that started the Korean music wave with a great bang garnering million album sales. Seo Taiji and Boys did not only make the greatest historic musical act that started it all in Korea but to the rest of the world. K Pop indeed since then has never been the same again!

Two decades after the success of Seo Taiji and Boys, the Korean Wave was rippled again when in the year 2012, "Gangnam Style" by Psy hit it big top listing major music charts in over 30 countries and it even exceed the viewing counts of most popular foreign acts like Justin Bieber. And apart from the now popular K Pop music, another Korean hype was born, the Gangnam Style. Named after the elite district of South Korea, Gangnam has become the center of South Korea’s signature convergence. From music to fashion to plastic surgery. Gangnam was now a major area not only in South Korea for the affluent but on anything and everything about K Pop.

Yes, the K-Pop fever has spread worldwide and it has no sign of stopping. But why stop when everyone can join and enjoy as much as you want. And as long as fans chat K-Pop all over the world, K-Pop is here to stay!
