  • The End of An Era?

I read this article about the death of KPOP's golden years. I was fourteen years old during the time when KPOP groups made their own names and identity within the industry. It's just so sad that these groups from the golden years of KPOP are starting to disband and laylow. The KPOP generation back then is too different compared to today's girl and boy groups.

What do you think about this issue?

Having read some stories of poplar K group that have recently disbanded, I have to agree with some critics that just like how music bands have been before. I'm particularly talking about The Beatles, Queen and others who were either disbanded due to death of members, issues between members, etc. There is ONE common denominator of 'em all. And that is the people we call 'followers' or fans like us. We were the ones who EMPOWER them to stay or not to stay in the industry. The talent and skills as well as marketing these groups were just secondary essentials. Fans are the bloodline of these groups in the entertainment world. Unfortunately, these followers are human beings who have that natural instinct about preferences and level of satiety or addiction. Just like cravings, all will pass and go. And in the entertainment industry this kind of craving is called 'fad' Simply put, like yin & yang, there is also beginning and end, life and death, flop or fame. But in all of these, the ones who always emerge as the winner is us FANS. We get what we want because we like what we want.

Sorry, I'm talking deep on this issue. Simply because, I am a fan and loves to be one.

Well, there are a lot of K-Pop Groups that are disbanding, of course, this is a fact that has been going around lately. (I am a big fan of 2NE1, by the way) But we should also consider the fact that there are also smaller (and/or) less popular groups that are started brewing up. Instead of calling it "The End", I guess we should rather call it "The Change" instead. Because not all people, especially singers, would want to be singers all their life. Of course, it's their passion and they will probably do it for the rest of their life but not for public or professionally, or whatever that may require attention by the many.

Also, people change. It's not that they will be friends forever and will be together forever. Their interests will vary from the others and as time goes by, their way of thinking, their opinions, etc. will collide to each other and (might) destroy other people because of these small and subtle yet deadly changes. The thing is: It's normal for being human and all these K-pop superstar are the same flesh and blood. (Not to mention they have to stay sane out of all those crazy schedules and practices and etc. and others might also be thinking filing a lawsuit due to their health deteriorating)

Changes happen. It just so happens that it also do in K-Pop World.

My heart broke after I heard the news of 2NE1's disbandment. Although it is true that change is inevitable and rookie groups must be given the chance to the spotlight, I just can't help to be sad if the band I supported all those years seems to lose fans over some new groups. 😔

I suffered years when DBSK broke-up from five members to two. And it still pains me until now. Although all five of them are still performing but not as one group anymore. Things to happen.

2NE1 is also the first ever girl group that caught my attention and I immediately fell in love with them since they have a different concept compared to other groups. Not to sound offensive, but I am not the type of girl who likes cutesy things, maybe that's the reason why I immediately loved the group. I was already anticipating that they'll disband sooner or later when the news about Bom carrying some type of drug broke out and Minzy's depature from both the group and the management. But I was still heartbroken and still feeling sad whenever I'm watching their old performances and guestings.

Well, just in case you're looking for another group that has kind of the same vibe as them, you can listen or watch BLACKPINK. They are YG's newest girl group. They just debuted last year and their songs are already hits both in Korea and internationally. They almost has the same concept as 2NE1.

Things come and go, its the cycle of life. Soon enough there will be a new fad that appeals to the this same audience. There are always options.

I've been listening to them! I love Lisa! Hahaha. Another group I've been eyeing on recently is TWICE. LOL. Thank you!

Yes! I like Lisa too. Their song "Playing with Fire" is catchy and badass. I love their concept. I like TWICE also, although they have too many members. But Mina is my fave.

Tzuyu is my fav in TWICE! Anyway, speaking off BLACKPINK, there are several forums comparing the group to 2NE1. I don't think they are literally "another" 2NE1, is just that YGE is known for producing music and groups with a hiphop-like genre.
